Alberta Radio October 28 gas prices: Calgary 160.2¢/L, Edmonton 159.1¢/L, Airdrie 161.8¢/L, ten town averages and separately labelled Thursday forecasts.

Alberta gas prices slipped again on Wednesday, October 28, but the large forecast drop had not reached city averages by the 9:22 AM Mountain Time reading. Calgary averaged 160.2¢/L, down 2.2¢ from Tuesday, and Edmonton averaged 159.1¢/L, down 1.8¢. Airdrie edged down 0.1¢ to 161.8¢/L.

The cheapest reports moved faster. Calgary’s Buffalo Run Costcos fell 9¢ to 137¢/L, while Edmonton’s listed low fell 4¢ to 146¢/L. Both city averages are now below the supplied pre-tax-holiday benchmarks: Calgary by 0.8¢ and Edmonton by 2.9¢.

All prices are Canadian cents per litre. Daily changes compare with the October 27 pull at 8:58 AM MT unless otherwise stated. Station reports may change before you arrive, and Costco fuel requires membership.

Did the forecast 14–16¢ drop happen?

Not in the city averages yet. Canadians for Affordable Energy had forecast Wednesday regular gasoline at 143.9¢/L in Calgary, a 16¢ reduction in its forecast series, and 141.9¢/L in Edmonton, a 14¢ reduction. CheapGas and GasBuddy instead showed city averages falling about 2¢ by this morning.

Lower station reports suggest some reductions are reaching the pumps, but they do not establish that the full forecast will occur everywhere. More changes could roll out during the day. Forecast figures below are separate from observed pump averages and should not be subtracted directly from them.

Calgary: 160.2¢/L average; Buffalo Run Costco reports 137¢

CheapGasCalgary’s 9:15 AM snapshot covered 285 stations, with the newest report at 8:50 AM. The 160.2¢/L average was down 2.2¢ and 0.8¢ below the supplied pre-holiday benchmark of 161.0¢/L.

The lowest reported regular price was 137¢/L at the Costcos at 12901 and 12905 Buffalo Run Boulevard, down 9¢. Tsuut’ina Gas Stop at 9915 Chiila Boulevard was at 139¢, also down 9¢; Costco at 99 Heritage Gate SE was at 145¢; and Tsuut’ina Gas on Weaselhead Road was at 148¢.

Edmonton: 159.1¢/L average; listed lows at 146¢

CheapGasEdmonton’s 9:10 AM snapshot covered 248 stations, with the newest report at 8:32 AM. The average fell 1.8¢ to 159.1¢/L, which is 2.9¢ below the supplied pre-holiday benchmark of 162.0¢/L.

The station at 14035 Victoria Trail NW and Tempo at 10415 158 Avenue were listed at 146¢/L. Costco at 12450 149 Street NW and Costco at 13650 50 Street NW were at 147¢/L.

A single Esso report at 16002 114 Avenue showed 130¢/L, a full 16¢ below the next listed station. That is a suspect outlier, not a confirmed bargain. Edmonton’s reported 152¢ premium low, attached to an Esso without an address, is also unverified and may be related. Confirm both before relying on them.

Airdrie: little movement at 161.8¢/L

The 9:15 AM Airdrie snapshot averaged 161.8¢/L across 17 stations, down 0.1¢, with a 162¢ median. Gas Plus at 200-800 Airdrie Road showed 160¢, but that report was from October 27 at 6:11 PM. Mobil at 300 Veterans Boulevard NE and Petro-Canada at 217 Edmonton Trail were at 161¢, with the rest at 162¢.

GasBuddy and CAA comparisons

GasBuddy’s Alberta page at about 9:23 AM showed Calgary at 160.0¢/L, down 2.2¢, and Edmonton at 158.2¢/L, down 1.7¢. Different samples and update times can produce different tracker averages.

CAA’s national average, updated at 4:00 AM, was 172.3¢/L, down 0.1¢. Against the CheapGas averages, Calgary was 12.1¢ below that figure and Edmonton was 13.2¢ below.

Other Alberta cities: Kalibrate’s October 27 table

Kalibrate’s figures are one day behind today’s digest. Its October 27 regular averages were Calgary 162.0¢/L (−1.7¢), Edmonton 161.7¢ (+0.3¢), Red Deer 164.7¢ (+0.9¢), Lethbridge 157.5¢ (−2.9¢), Lloydminster 154.7¢ (−3.4¢) and Grande Prairie 162.3¢ (−0.2¢). Changes here compare with Kalibrate’s October 26 table, not this morning’s CheapGas snapshots.

Costco tracker: older listings lag some pump reports

The Costco tracker refreshed at 6:42 PM MT on October 27, about 15 hours before the digest. It still listed Buffalo Run at 145.9¢/L, while the newer CheapGas snapshot showed 137¢. That gap illustrates why the tracker should not be treated as a live reading.

Its older regular listings were 147.9¢/L at east Edmonton on 50 Street, north Edmonton on 149 Street and St. Albert; 149.9¢ at Lethbridge, Nisku, south Edmonton, Winterburn, Sherwood Park and 186 Street; 151.9¢ at Calgary East Hills and Heritage Gate; 152.9¢ at Medicine Hat; 153.9¢ at Calgary Sarcee Trail, Okotoks and CrossIron; and 154.9¢ at Grande Prairie and Red Deer. Costco membership is required.

Diesel and premium

CheapGas reported diesel lows of 200¢/L at Tsuut’ina Gas in Calgary, down 11¢, and 211¢/L at Your Spot, 12104 161 Avenue NW, in Edmonton, unchanged. The older Costco tracker showed Grande Prairie at 216.9¢, down 3¢, and Calgary East Hills at 218.9¢, unchanged.

Kalibrate’s October 27 diesel averages were Calgary 227.2¢/L, Edmonton 233.3¢, Red Deer 228.5¢, Lethbridge 236.9¢, Lloydminster 232.1¢ and Grande Prairie 222.9¢. These averages are separate from station lows.

Canadians for Affordable Energy’s Wednesday diesel forecast was 196.9¢/L in Calgary and 194.9¢/L in Edmonton, reductions of 23–24¢ in its series. Those levels had not appeared at most reported pumps by this morning. Calgary’s reported premium low was 159¢/L at Costco, 12905 Buffalo Run Boulevard, down 11¢. Edmonton’s suspect 152¢ premium report remains unconfirmed.

Thursday, October 29 forecast — not pump readings

Canadians for Affordable Energy forecasts regular gasoline at 141.9¢/L in Calgary and Medicine Hat and 139.9¢/L in Edmonton on Thursday, each 2¢ below its Wednesday forecast. Its Thursday diesel forecast is 198.9¢/L in Calgary, up 2¢, and 192.9¢/L in Edmonton, down 2¢. CheapGas forecasts remain unavailable.

If your tank can wait, another check later today may help. A forecast is not a guarantee: use the station’s displayed pump price when deciding where to fill.

Sources and reporting notes

This report uses the supplied October 28 digest and its stated source timestamps; prices were not independently rechecked during publication. Fresh pump snapshots, older tracker listings, previous-day city averages and forecasts are labelled separately. CheapGas forecasts were unavailable; GasBuddy city pages supplied no prices, and Gas Wizard was not checked.
