A Leduc business owner has pleaded guilty in a case involving the luring and sexual abuse of 28 girls, according to Edmonton Journal's October 22 report.

The guilty-plea development was announced in the newspaper's public post on X. Alberta Radio also reviewed official ALERT releases and earlier CityNews coverage to establish the background to the investigation.

How the investigation developed

ALERT's Internet Child Exploitation unit began investigating Campbell Fergusson in April 2025 after receiving information through Cybertip. In its July 2, 2025 release, ALERT said officers arrested the then-49-year-old Leduc man on June 26 with assistance from Leduc RCMP.

Police said they seized electronic devices, including a smartphone and laptop. The initial announcement described 27 charges and six identified teenage victims. Investigators alleged that social-media accounts, including Snapchat accounts, had been used to contact girls in the Edmonton area.

CityNews reported on July 2, 2025 that a youth counsellor's report helped bring the matter to investigators' attention. Its coverage also recorded police appeals for additional people with information to come forward.

The case expanded in October 2025

In an October 21, 2025 update, ALERT announced 86 additional charges, bringing the total at that stage of the investigation to 113. Police said public information and forensic examination of evidence had helped investigators identify further victims.

The additional charges included child luring, sexual assault, sexual interference, extortion and offences involving child sexual abuse material. Those figures describe the charges announced in 2025; they are not a count of convictions established by the new guilty-plea report.

Today's update

Edmonton Journal's latest headline reports a guilty plea in a case involving 28 girls. The earlier police releases and CityNews article provide investigation history; they do not independently establish the details of the new plea.

Alberta Radio has not independently verified the precise counts admitted, any sentencing date or the disposition of the remaining charges. Those details are not being presented as confirmed in this update.

Information and support

In its investigation updates, ALERT encouraged anyone with relevant information to contact local police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. Police also identified the Zebra Child and Youth Advocacy Centre as a support partner for young people coming forward.
