Aspen Wilson Found Safe: Valleyview Amber Alert Cancelled

Aspen Wilson is safe. Ninety minutes after Alberta's phones lit up with an Amber Alert, Valleyview RCMP cancelled it — and the seven-year-old at the centre of Monday's search was located by police.

The alert went province-wide at 10:15 a.m. MT. By about 11:45 a.m., RCMP said the child reported abducted from her Valleyview home had been found safe, and the suspect was in custody.
That suspect is Aspen's stepfather, Alexander Stone, 28. When the alert went out, police said he was believed to be driving a grey 2004 Chevrolet Venture minivan with Alberta plate CWY 3459, possibly toward Slave Lake or Red Deer. Whether the pair was stopped on those routes or elsewhere, RCMP have not said. No find location has been released. No charges have been announced.
What we do know is the outcome that matters most: Aspen is safe, and Stone is in custody while investigators keep working the file.
For Peace Country families, this morning felt familiar for the wrong reasons. In July, Beaverlodge RCMP issued an Amber Alert for six-year-old Lanakai Morrison. That case ran for months before Lanakai was found safe in B.C. Monday's Valleyview alert did not drag. It ended the same morning it started.
Alberta Radio first reported the active alert in our earlier post on the Valleyview Amber Alert. This follow-up closes the loop.
The takeaway is simple. When an Amber Alert hits your phone, treat it like it matters — because for a stretch of Monday morning, it did. Share the plate. Call 911 if you see something. Don't approach. Then let police do the rest.
Today, that system worked. Aspen Wilson is home in the only sense that counts: she was found safe.
