Read October 21, 2026, approximately 7:05–7:10 a.m. Mountain Time, using CheapGas snapshots from 6:10 and 6:15 a.m. These are dated morning readings, not live prices at publication. All regular gasoline figures are cents per litre.
Important: many lowest station reports were filed between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 5 a.m. Wednesday. Some stations may already have increased their prices. The Costco reports from approximately 4 a.m. were among the freshest in the supplied check. Confirm prices at the pump; Costco listings require membership.
Calgary: average jumps to 160.8¢
Calgary’s average covered 284 stations and rose from Tuesday’s 151.7¢/L to 160.8¢. That was approximately its supplied pre-tax-holiday comparison level of 161.0¢.
Both Buffalo Run Boulevard Costco listings showed 135¢, reported around 4 a.m. Next were Tsuut’ina Gas Stop on Chiila Boulevard at 137¢, followed by Canco on 194 Avenue SE, Tempo on Canyon Meadows Drive SW and Co-op on Sun Valley Boulevard SE at 138¢.
Edmonton: 155.4¢ average, early Costco report at 132¢

Airdrie: 159.2¢ average
Airdrie averaged 159.2¢/L across 18 stations, up 5.4¢. Gas Plus on Airdrie Road showed 150¢, but that report was filed at 6:28 p.m. Tuesday. Other listings were at 152¢. The age of these reports is particularly relevant during a price increase.

Kalibrate averages: October 20, before the overnight jump
Kalibrate’s supplied Tuesday averages were Edmonton 145.6¢/L, Lloydminster 147.5¢, Calgary 148.9¢, Red Deer 149.5¢, Lethbridge 156.4¢ and Grande Prairie 156.7¢. These predate Wednesday’s increase and should not be presented as today’s city averages.
Medicine Hat’s Costco listing was 151.9¢. That is a station price, not a Medicine Hat average.
GasBuddy, CAA and the separate Costco tracker
GasBuddy’s supplied readings were 161.5¢/L in Calgary and 154.3¢ in Edmonton, up roughly 10¢ and 8¢ from the previous readings. CAA’s national average was 171.2¢, approximately flat against 171.3¢ Tuesday and below 177.1¢ a week earlier. Using the CheapGas averages, Calgary was about 10¢ below the national benchmark and Edmonton about 16¢ below.
The separate Costco tracker had last refreshed around 6:42 p.m. Tuesday. It showed east Edmonton at 131.9¢, Nisku and Buffalo Run at 134.9¢, Red Deer at 144.9¢, Grande Prairie, Lethbridge and Okotoks at 149.9¢, and Medicine Hat at 151.9¢. Those older tracker listings are kept separate from the early-Wednesday CheapGas reports.
Diesel and premium prices
The supplied diesel range was approximately 202–237¢/L. Low reports were Chevron on Elbow Drive SW in Calgary at 202¢ and Apollo on 118 Avenue in Edmonton at 211¢. Kalibrate’s October 20 city diesel averages ranged from 224¢ to 237¢.
Premium gasoline was reported as low as 160¢/L at Calgary’s Buffalo Run Costco and 155¢ at Edmonton’s 50 Street Costco. Regular, premium and diesel are separate fuel products.
Thursday forecast: separate estimates, not additions to today’s averages
Canadians for Affordable Energy forecast another 7¢ increase in regular gasoline and 14¢ in diesel for Thursday. Its stated regular-gas levels were 152.9¢ in Calgary and Medicine Hat and 150.9¢ in Edmonton; its diesel levels were 244.9¢ in Calgary and 240.9¢ in Edmonton.
Those forecast levels do not align with the current CheapGas averages above. They belong to a separate forecast series and must not be interpreted as simply adding 7¢ or 14¢ to the displayed city averages. Forecasts are estimates, not confirmed station changes. CheapGas’s own forecasts remained unavailable in the supplied briefing.
