Alberta Gas Prices Today: October 18, 2026 Sunday Update

Gas prices continued to ease in Calgary and Edmonton in Alberta Radio’s Sunday morning check. GasBuddy’s supplied averages were 153.9¢/L for Calgary, down 1.7¢, and 146.7¢ for Edmonton, down 1.5¢. The readings were collected at 11:20 a.m. Mountain Time on October 18, 2026.
Today’s city averages are kept separate from Costco station listings updated Saturday evening, October 17. All regular gasoline prices are cents per litre. Costco prices are for members only and should be confirmed at the pump.
Calgary and Edmonton gas prices: Sunday averages
Calgary’s GasBuddy average of 153.9¢/L was approximately 7¢ below the pre-tax-holiday comparison level in the supplied briefing. Edmonton’s 146.7¢ average was approximately 15¢ below its comparison level. These are city averages, not the price charged at every station.
CAA’s supplied national average was 173.9¢/L, up 1.3¢. Calgary was therefore about 20¢ below the national average, while Edmonton was about 27¢ below. A national average is a benchmark; it does not mean every driver outside Alberta pays that price.
Costco gas listings: updated Saturday evening
The lowest Costco price in the supplied list was 132.9¢/L at the east Edmonton location on 50 Street NW. The following listings come from the tracker’s Saturday-evening update, not a fresh Sunday pump inspection.
Costco location | Regular ¢/L |
|---|---|
East Edmonton — 50 St NW | 132.9 |
Nisku | 136.9 |
North and South Edmonton | 137.9 |
Calgary — Buffalo Run Blvd | 138.9 |
St. Albert | 139.9 |
Red Deer | 143.9 |
Calgary — Heritage Gate SE | 144.9 |
Grande Prairie and Lethbridge | 149.9 |
Medicine Hat and Okotoks | 154.9 |
Costco membership is required for the listed prices. “Lowest listed” refers to this snapshot and is not a claim that every Alberta station was surveyed. Check the station’s hours and posted price before making a detour.
Diesel remains substantially higher
The supplied briefing places diesel broadly around 210–240¢/L. Specific Costco listings were 207.9¢ in Grande Prairie and 213.9¢ in Calgary. The Grande Prairie listing is slightly below the rounded range, which is why the individual figures are shown separately.
City diesel forecasts were approximately 225–229¢/L. Forecasts are estimates and should not be presented as confirmed station prices. These readings also reinforce the correction in Saturday’s update: earlier CheapGas diesel lows around 160¢ were unreliable and should not guide a purchase.
Why there are no fresh Airdrie or smaller-town averages
The supplied Sunday check reported that CheapGas had not updated since early Friday. No new CheapGas figures were available for Airdrie or the smaller towns. Kalibrate’s averages for Red Deer, Lethbridge, Grande Prairie and Lloydminster also remained dated Friday.
Those older city averages are omitted from today’s table rather than presented as current Sunday readings. The Red Deer, Grande Prairie and Lethbridge entries above are individual Costco station listings from Saturday evening, not fresh city-wide averages.
Before you fill up
Compare the same fuel grade, check the report date and confirm the pump price. A 10¢/L difference saves $5 on a 50-litre fill; travel time and fuel used on a detour can reduce that saving. Membership requirements and station hours also matter.
The supplied figures show lower Calgary and Edmonton averages, but a city-wide decline does not guarantee that a particular station has reduced its price. Use current station information before purchasing.
Sources and reporting notes
This article and its approved Alberta Radio graphic use the figures supplied for the October 18, 2026 briefing. GasBuddy and CAA averages were read at 11:20 a.m. MT; Costco prices were from the tracker’s Saturday-evening update. The source readings were not independently reverified at publication. Diesel forecasts and station listings are identified separately.
