Alberta Radio October 16, 2026 gas prices: Calgary averages 157.6¢, Edmonton 151.1¢ and Airdrie 161.8¢, with 10 nearby communities.

Gas prices eased again in Calgary and Edmonton on Friday morning, extending the run of declines described in Alberta Radio’s daily update to four days. Calgary averaged 157.6¢/L and Edmonton 151.1¢/L, while Airdrie held at 161.8¢. The city trackers expected prices to remain about flat through Sunday.

October 16, 2026 morning snapshot: readings were collected at approximately 10:15 a.m. Mountain Time, although some source pages were last updated at 9:15 a.m. All regular gasoline figures are cents per litre. Community averages and individual station reports are separate measures.

Calgary: 157.6¢ average, Buffalo Run Costco at 142¢

Calgary’s average fell 1.6¢ overnight across 288 stations, with a median of 157¢/L. The lowest reported regular price was 142¢ at Costco, 12905 Buffalo Run Boulevard. The next-lowest reports were 149¢ at three stations on 50 Avenue SE: BVD Travel Centre, Petro-Pass and Esso.

The supplied comparison places Calgary 3.4¢ below its pre-tax-holiday level. Its tracker’s latest outlook was broadly steady through Sunday, replacing earlier calls for a price jump. Forecasts are estimates rather than confirmed future station prices.

Edmonton: 151.1¢ average; treat the 134¢ report cautiously

Edmonton averaged 151.1¢/L across 254 stations, down 2.8¢ overnight. Its median was 150¢. The supplied comparison places Edmonton 10.9¢ below its pre-tax-holiday level.

Shell at 13610 66 Street showed 134¢/L, but that was 4¢ below the next-lowest reports. It may represent a single report and was not independently confirmed. Check the station before travelling or relying on that figure on air.

Other low reports were 138¢ at Centex on 99 Street and two Shell stations on 104 Street. The branded card highlights those 138¢ reports while separately flagging the unconfirmed 134¢ listing. Edmonton’s tracker also expected prices to remain about flat through Sunday.

Airdrie: 161.8¢ average, unchanged

Airdrie’s average stayed at 161.8¢/L. Gas Plus on Airdrie Road had the lowest recent report at 160¢. Fifteen of the 19 stations in the supplied check were at 162¢.

The table compares the supplied community averages with low station reports. Balzac’s 160¢ figure is specifically a Costco listing; it is not presented as a confirmed community minimum.

Spruce Grove remained the lowest-average community in the snapshot at 142.7¢/L, despite a 0.6¢ daily increase. Leduc’s average fell 3.1¢ to 147.1¢, with Shell in Nisku reporting 139¢. Sherwood Park’s Fas Gas on Granada Boulevard was 140¢, while Beaumont’s Esso on 60 Street was 145¢.

Costco reports were 145¢ in St. Albert and 160¢ in Okotoks. Centex in Bearspaw supplied the Cochrane-area low of 159¢. Local averages do not imply every station in a community charges the same price.

GasBuddy and the national comparison

The supplied GasBuddy averages were 157.2¢/L for Calgary and 149.9¢ for Edmonton. CAA’s national average was 174.3¢, compared with 180.5¢ a week earlier. Using the main CheapGas averages, Calgary was about 17¢ below that national figure and Edmonton about 23¢ below.

Different providers can use different station samples, geographic coverage and update windows. Their averages are therefore identified separately rather than blended together. Gas Wizard had no figures in the supplied morning check.

Diesel and premium prices

The lowest diesel reports were 160¢/L at Calgary’s Costco on Buffalo Run and 158¢ at Domo on 156 Street in Edmonton. Calgary’s lowest premium report was 154¢ at that Costco. Edmonton’s premium figure was omitted because it appeared unreliable in the supplied data.

Before you fill up this weekend

Both trackers’ outlook was approximately flat through Sunday, so the morning check did not point to an urgent predicted increase. Compare current reports, check the report time and fuel grade, and factor in station hours, membership requirements and any detour.

A 10¢/L difference saves $5 on a 50-litre fill. Confirm the posted pump price before purchasing: community reports can lag changes, and forecasts can change as new data arrives.

Sources and reporting notes

This article and its branded image use the October 16 morning readings supplied to Alberta Radio and attributed to the sources below. They are a dated snapshot, not independently verified live prices at publication. The unusually low Edmonton report and Balzac listing limitation are identified explicitly.
