Alberta Gas Prices Today: October 12, 2026 Morning Update
Alberta drivers found a little relief at the pumps on Thanksgiving Monday. In Alberta Radio’s October 12 morning snapshot, Calgary averaged 164.6¢/L and Edmonton 159.2¢/L, down 1.6¢ and 1.3¢ respectively from Sunday. Airdrie also eased, while some Edmonton-area communities moved slightly higher.
Snapshot: October 12, 2026, approximately 10:10–10:15 a.m. Mountain Time. All regular gasoline prices below are cents per litre. These are reported local prices, not a verified province-wide average.
Later reading: CheapGasCalgary showed 164.4¢/L at 11:15 a.m. MT. The branded cover retains the original 164.6¢ morning snapshot. Station reports and averages can change during the day.
Calgary gas prices: 164.6¢ average, Buffalo Run at 147¢
Calgary’s morning average covered 272 stations, with a median of 164¢/L. The lowest reported regular price was 147¢/L at the Costco listings on Buffalo Run Boulevard. Tsuut’ina Gas on Weaselhead Road and the Gas Stop on Chiila Boulevard followed at 151¢; the 7-Eleven at 5310 17 Avenue SE was 152¢.
CheapGasCalgary’s tracker advised filling up today, forecasting roughly a 4¢/L increase by Wednesday. That is a model estimate, not a confirmed future pump price. Drivers should check the station report time and pump price before taking a detour.
Edmonton gas prices: 159.2¢ average, lowest reports at 142¢
Edmonton averaged 159.2¢/L across 246 stations, with a median of 162¢. The cheapest reports were 142¢ at Canadian Tire, 2204 101 Street NW, and Petro-Canada, 3003 Calgary Trail.
The Edmonton tracker indicated no rush to fill up, with only about a 1¢ move expected by Wednesday. Its outlook therefore differed from Calgary’s warning of an increase.
Airdrie: 166.5¢ average
Airdrie’s reported average was 166.5¢/L, down 1.7¢ from Sunday. Gas Plus on Airdrie Road had the lowest same-day report at 164¢. UFA on Highland Park Boulevard showed 155¢, but that report dated from Sunday afternoon; it is excluded from today’s cheapest-price comparison.
Gas prices around Calgary and Edmonton
The table compares community averages with the lowest reported station prices. A lowest station price is not the price charged across the whole community.
Community | Average (¢/L) | Lowest (¢/L) | Change since Sunday |
|---|---|---|---|
Spruce Grove | 142.0 | 141 | −0.5 |
Beaumont | 147.0 | 147 | Unchanged |
Leduc / Nisku | 148.8 | 143 | +1.1 |
St. Albert | 152.4 | 145 | +0.7 |
Sherwood Park | 153.7 | 145 | −0.1 |
Balzac (3 stations) | 158.7 | 158 | −2.8 |
Fort Saskatchewan | 160.8 | 159 | −0.1 |
Cochrane | 162.2 | 162 | −0.3 |
Chestermere | 167.8 | 164 | −1.6 |
Okotoks | 171.3 | 158 | +0.8 |
Spruce Grove remained the lowest-average community in this snapshot, at 142.0¢/L, with eight stations reporting 141¢. Balzac’s average was based on only three stations, so its sample was much smaller than Calgary’s or Edmonton’s.
Diesel and premium: lowest reports in the morning check
Diesel was reported at 160¢/L at the Costco on Buffalo Run in Calgary and the Domo on Gateway Boulevard in Edmonton. For premium gasoline, the lowest reports were 154¢ at that Calgary Costco and 152¢ at True Values on 19A Avenue in Edmonton. These are separate fuel grades and should not be compared directly with regular gasoline averages.
Why GasBuddy’s averages differ
The morning comparison also showed GasBuddy averages of 164.5¢/L for Calgary and 155.9¢ for Edmonton. CAA’s national regular-gas average was 176.5¢/L, down 1¢. Different providers can use different station samples, report windows and update times, so their averages should be identified by source rather than blended into one number.
Gas Wizard did not provide figures in the supplied morning check. No forecast from that service is used here.
Before you fill up
Compare the right fuel grade, check the age of the report, and weigh any detour against the savings. A 5¢/L difference saves $2.50 on a 50-litre fill. Costco membership requirements and station opening hours also matter, especially on a holiday. The price posted at the pump is the price to confirm before filling.
This update covers the 13 communities with data in the morning check. It does not assign today’s prices to Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray, High River or Brooks without fresh reports.
Sources and methodology
The original morning figures were supplied to Alberta Radio from the CheapGas city and town pages, GasBuddy and CAA. Calgary and Edmonton’s main tracker pages were checked again before publication. Most figures remain the dated morning snapshot shown in the cover; the later Calgary reading is identified separately. Community reports may lag changes at the pump.
