Alberta Crime Watch: Thursday, September 24, 2026

Alberta police agencies had a heavy overnight and morning slate on Thursday, spanning a murder warrant on the Saskatchewan border, arson tips in Fort McMurray, fresh violence and hate-crime charges in Calgary, and high-profile firearms cases in Edmonton.
Lloydminster — Murder warrant after targeted shooting
Lloydminster RCMP are searching for Randy Lysohirka, 40, wanted for second-degree murder after a shooting Monday (Sept. 21) on 50th Avenue near 47th Street. The victim, Nolan Whitstone, 22, of Lloydminster, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the shooting was targeted and that Lysohirka is believed to still have a gun. The public is asked not to approach him and to tip Lloydminster RCMP at 780-808-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Fort McMurray — Arson suspect photos released
Wood Buffalo RCMP released surveillance images of a person of interest in a string of downtown fires reported Sept. 19. Investigators want help identifying the suspect seen near the scenes. Tip line: 780-788-4040 or 310-RCMP.
Calgary — Stabbing, hate assault charges, gun seizure
Taradale: Calgary police are investigating a stabbing reported Thursday morning.
Hate-motivated assault: Two men — Tyson David Cann, 24 (Calgary) and Fynn Storm Ferrier, 24 (Kimberley, B.C.) — face assault causing bodily harm after a July incident on Macleod Trail in which a woman was trapped when a portable washroom was tipped over. Police say hate (gender and ethnicity) was a factor; that can weigh at sentencing.
Weapons seizure: Three men face 20 charges after a Coventry Hills search turned up prohibited firearms and 3D-printed weapons, including a printed Glock-style handgun and silencer.
Edmonton — Ghost guns and West Edmonton Mall case
Roy Tucker, 31, is being sentenced Thursday on charges tied to manufacturing and possessing 3D-printed “ghost” handguns (Project Reproduction). The Crown has sought roughly 4.5 years.
Leron Andrew John pleaded guilty Wednesday to two firearms offences from the Aug. 21, 2023 shootout outside West Edmonton Mall; sentencing is set for a later date.
Edmonton police are still seeking two men connected to an Aug. 31 west-end assault near 174 Street and 77 Avenue that left a man with serious head injuries in hospital.
